The 2024 Council of Science Editors (CSE) Annual Meeting was held from May 4 to May 7, 2024, at the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront in Portland, Oregon, USA. A significant highlight of the event was the launch of the ninth edition of The CSE Manual: Scientific Style and Format, with notable contributions from Korean editors, including Professor Sun Huh, who authored a new chapter on digital standards for academic journals.

The meeting included specialized “Short Courses,” poster sessions, and various general sessions. Key discussions focused on emerging topics such as AI’s role in scholarly publishing, inclusive language guidelines, and ethics in publishing, including combating predatory publishers and paper mills. The event provided opportunities for knowledge sharing, interactive sessions, and professional networking.

The attendee’s personal contributions included presenting a poster on Science Editing to promote the journal and encourage submissions. Despite attending for the first time, the participant found the event highly educational and expressed gratitude to the Korean Council of Science Editors for the opportunity.
