Science Editing, the official journal of the Korean Council of Science Editors (KCSE) and Council of Asian Science Editors (CASE), is now both indexed in Scopus and ESCI (Emerging Sources Citation Index). Science Editing is also listed in the DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals) since 2016. Editors, publishers, authors and reviewers all over the world are welcomed to contribute their valuable manuscripts to Science Editing.

Increased number of papers co-authored by professor and his students in humanities and social science journals published in Korea

A bibliometric-based approach is introduced to characterize changes in the ratio of joint authorship between professors and students in humanities and social science studies in Korea. Dramatic increase in the overall number of co-authored articles was observed, especially in the social sciences, and papers written by scholars from Seoul National University, Yonsei University, and Korea University were often published in high-impact factor journals. Changes in the perceptions of professor-student co-authorship are highlighted.

The trends of international collaboration from articles indexed in Scopus by researchers in Korea from 2006 to 2015 were analyzed. The number of articles coauthored by researchers in Korea and those in the selected foreign countries was obtained and the growth of research collaboration in various academic disciplines was also studied.

Bibliometric characteristics of publications from North Korea indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection from 1988 to 2016 were analyzed. The main research fields were investigated and trends in view of the number of articles were discussed.

Analysis of visits to ScienceCentral, an open access full-text archive of scientific society journal literature

Various analyses on ScienceCentral were reported for the number of articles deposited, page views by period, country of visitors, number of visitors, and entry point of visits. Descriptive statistics were presented and hypothesis that visitors access ScienceCentral mostly through Google and Google Scholar was confirmed.

Analysis of the results of the first implementation of the Korea Manuscript Editors Certification

Analysis of the results of the Korea Manuscript Editors Certification, consistently provided by the Korean Council of Science Editors, was reported. The contributions of the certification system to Korean scientific journals are estimated.

Bibliometric and content analysis of medical articles in the PubMed database published by North Korean authors from 1997 to July 2017

Bibliometric characteristics and content of medical articles from North Korea in PubMed were analyzed and the patterns of international cooperation of medical researchers in North Korea were characterized. The number of publications from North Korea in PubMed was also investigated.

Impersonation of Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology journal website

A case of phishing, impersonation of Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology journal website, was investigated and the suggestions on the measures to prevent it were presented. The importance of establishment of international cooperation, enactment of international law on phishing, and its enforcement were highlighted.
