Contributing to improvement in the quality of scientific writing, editing and publishing

The 2nd Asian Science Editors′ Conference & Workshop 2015 on the theme “How to add local scientific journals to international databases” was held from August 20 to 22 at Hanoi University of Science and Technology in Vietnam. The objective of the conference and workshop was to improve the quality of scientific writing and editing, and publishing scientific publications according to international standards. It aimed to help scientists, educators, and researchers to increase their knowledge of scientific writing, and review and manage the quality of scientific journals and scientific publications intended for a global reach.
The conference was organized by the Mechanical Engineering Society, Hanoi University of Technology, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, in collaboration with the Council of Asian Science Editors (CASE). The event attracted over 250 participants from various universities, research and training institutions, scientific publishers, journals, and research and training units associated with scientific journals.
In the first workshop, the facilitators conducted four sessions focusing on training on JATS XML, peer review, and publication ethics. In the second workshop, the editors, scientists, and researchers had the opportunity to meet international and national experts and have discussions on how to improve the quality of writing for international journals, as well as scientific journals in Vietnam with international standards.
The 2nd Asian Science Editors′ Conference & Workshop 2015 was sponsored by the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies (KOFST), Elsevier, Editage Korea (Cactus Group), Korean Council of Science Editors (KCSE), and Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI). The 3rd Asian Science Editors′ Conference & Workshop will be held from July 20 to 22, 2016 in Seoul, Korea.
